“Bye Bye Birdie” Character List

  • Albert Peterson: an aspiring English teacher and poet who wrote a song for Conrad Birdie, launching him into the music business as Conrad's agent. Albert is in love with Rosie Alvarez.
  • Rosie Alvarez: the girlfriend and secretary of Albert Peterson. She concocts the scheme to produce publicity for Albert with the intention of marrying him. Rosie is opinionated and strong-willed.
  • Conrad Birdie: Elvis-like character who is drafted into the army. He causes girls and women to faint with a swing of his hips.
  • Kim MacAfee: a 16-year-old girl who is picked to be kissed by Conrad Birdie before he joins the army. She is Hugo Peabody's girlfriend and the president of the Conrad Birdie Fan Club.
  • Harry MacAfee: Kim's father, who wrestles with the idea of his 16-year-old daughter kissing an older man on television. Harry is easily persuaded when fame is on the line.

  • Gloria Rasputin: a woman whom Albert's mother finds on the train to replace Rosie as secretary. She wants to get into show business.
